Stairs and steps

Steps and stairs on the bridge

A trip on the bridge should be a good experience. We have to go up to a height of 60 meters and walk about 2.5 km. We have about 2 hours for that including check-in and preparation for the trip.

This is a description of the “normal” route for a trip of 2 hours. Maintenance work on the bridge may mean that we have to take an alternative route.

Stair tower

We start the tour by going up through a stair tower (22 + 39 steps) and come up on our first walkway. Here we connect to a safety rail.

Footbridge

The approx. 100 m long walkway takes us out to our “place of regret” (30 meters above sea level). Here, the guide assesses whether everyone in the group can complete the tour. If you do not need to go further, you will be connected to another rail so that you can go back. You may want to visit our Welcome Center until the rest of the group returns. Unfortunately, your ticket is non-refundable.

First part of the double staircase: 39 steps

We then go up our next staircase – a double staircase. It is divided into two with 39 and 28 steps on each, respectively. Here we use a fall protection that also makes it easier for you to get up the stairs. The guide will go through the use of fall protection when you stand at the foot of the stairs.

Second part of the double staircase: 28 steps

When we get to the top (48 m. above sea level) we usually take a short break before we continue out on the walkway. If the stairs have taken your breath away, you can get it back while you stand and enjoy the impressive view.
The tour around the bridge takes place on the original old walkways (approx. 750 m on each side of the bridge) There are railings and you are attached with your safety line to the bridge throughout the tour.
To get on the east side of the bridge, you have to climb a ladder to get up on the crosswalkway.

Ladders up to cross walkway: 7 steps

Ladders down from the cross walkway: 7 steps

On the east side of the bridge, the trip goes back towards Funen. To get back to the west side of the bridge, you have to go up a cross walkway again – up (and down) a ladder.

To get down to the ground, you have to go down the double staircase and down the stairs in the stair tower. All in all, a walk of approx. 2 km. – and with just over 280 steps up and down stairs/ladders.
