About the experience
Bridgewalking takes 2 hours – including the safety briefing and changing.
Tickets
You can buy tickets online or in our Welcome Centre. We recommend you buy online to ensure there is space on the walk you want.
The Welcome Centre
The Welcome Centre is at Galsklintvej 2, DK-5500 Middelfart.
If you have a ticket, continue past the Welcome Centre and up the path to a black building that looks like an arch. Here you will be welcomed by your guide.
You will be given overalls to wear on top of your own clothes. We recommend that you wear comfortable clothes that are appropriate for the season. Wear sensible footwear that stays firmly on your feet – preferably with a rubber sole.
After a safety briefing, you will walk together to the Old Little Belt Bridge, where you will be connected to a safety system – and then it’s uphill! Up to 60 metres and out on the walk over the bridge. Along the way, the guide will tell about the bridge’s architecture, history, construction and the nature around the Little Belt.
You need to be in reasonably good physical shape, as it’s a walk of about 2.5 kilometres, and there are some steps on the way up to the bridge structure itself.
There is room for 20 people on each walk.
Rules for participating:
- You must be at least 140 cm tall
- You must not have walking difficulties
- You must be in reasonably good shape (the walk is about 2.5 km long, and there are some steps and stairs)

- You must not have consumed alcohol, and your blood alcohol level must be 0.00
- You must not have consumed intoxicants
- You must not be more than 23 weeks pregnant

Participants are not allowed to bring items on the bridge (mobile, camera, etc., – all pockets must be emptied). If you have shown your ticket on your phone, you can leave your phone in a locked safety box while you are on the bridge. You can also put car keys and other valuables in the safety box.
If you need life-saving medication and/or have a pacemaker, we recommend asking your doctor if you have any doubts about Bridgewalking.
Before you go on the bridge
In the Welcome Centre, you can buy various merchandise, water or a cup of coffee/tea or see the exhibition about the bridge and its history.
Just outside the door is a wonderful nature playground and the Hindsgavl Nature Centre, which has changing exhibitions with free admission.
If you have a ticket, continue past the Welcome Centre and up the path to Check In, where you show your ticket.
Your guide will give you a thorough safety briefing and give you overalls to wear on top of your own clothes when you go on the bridge. We recommend that you wear comfortable clothes that are appropriate for the season. It is also a good idea to wear sensible footwear that is firmly attached to your feet – preferably with rubber soles.
You will also get a harness to use when you connect to the safety rail on the bridge.
After the safety briefing and radio checks, you walk to the foot of the bridge
The walk over the bridge
Once you are attached to the safety rail, it’s upwards – 60 metres above the water – and 20 metres above the railway tracks and roads below you.
A guided tour of the bridge is a walk of about 2.5 km. There are stairs up to the walkway leading to the bridge and a double staircase leading up to the bridge itself. There are also four smaller ladders to climb up and down when crossing the two cross bridges. For the rest of the tour, you walk on the original old walkways. There are railings, and you are secured at all times with a safety line. There are several stops along the way where you have the opportunity to rest and enjoy the view. You can see a more detailed description and photos of the different stairs and steps here.
You can enjoy the beautiful view over the Little Belt, Jutland and Funen on the bridge. During the walk on the bridge, the guide talks about the Old Little Belt Bridge and points out the different things you can see from the bridge.
After your walk on the bridge
After your walk on the bridge, you will return to BUEN, where the walk began. Remember to get your keys and mobile phone if we have stored your belongings in our safety box.
Stop by the Welcome Centre before you go home. A small exhibition about the bridge construction is open free of charge, and you can buy merchandise, cold water or a cup of coffee.
Many bring a picnic basket and enjoy the beautiful area at the Welcome Centre. There is a nature playground, a Tarzan course, and the possibility of food over a fire.
If photos have been taken of your walk, you can download them for free here.
